<div align="justify">In a bizarre case, a two-year-old has been charged with molesting a 35-year-old woman in Bihar’s Motihari district. <br /><br />A woman, in the FIR lodged at the Patahi police station in East Champaran, has not only charged the toddler with outraging her modesty but also snatching gold chain. <br /><br />However, according to Section 82 of the Indian Penal Code, a child below the age of seven cannot be prosecuted simply because no act by such a child can be considered an offence.<br /><br />The toddler is now so terrorised that he remains confined to his room after he was told that police would soon arrest him and his father.<br /><br />His father (name withheld on his request) has been running from pillar to post to get the toddler’s name deleted from the FIR. <br /><br />The woman, who has lodged the complaint, is believed to have done so due to enmity with the toddler’s family. <br /><br />The child’s father met the station house officer of Patahi police station Narendra Kumar but all his pleas went in vain. <br /><br />“The SHO, in turn, suggested me to surrender in the court at the earliest,” he said.<br /><br />The SHO, however, denied being vindictive. <br /><br />He said when an FIR is lodged, the age of the accused will not be mentioned. <br /><br />“After I heard the case, I suggested to the aggrieved person to meet senior police officers,” Kumar said.</div>
