Mitrakant claims 8 wkts as SUCC take innings lead

Unbeaten centuries from KB Pawan and Aiyappa CR and an eight -wicket haul for the match from Mitrakant Singh Yadav helped Swastic Union Cricket Club (2) clinch three points from their drawn encounter against Cambridge Cricket Club in the KSCA Group I, Division I league cricket tournament for the Sir Mirza Ismail shield here.

Cambridge CC batted first and, on the back of GM Rishab’s 76, posted 190 in 74.3 overs, with Mitrakant causing most of the damage with figures of 6/59 for Swastic Union.

In reply, Pawan and Aiyappa came to the fore, slamming 165 not out and 104 not out respectively as Swastic Union declared on 308/2 in 74 overs, taking a lead of 118 runs in the process. Cambridge were on 72/3 in 33 overs in their second innings when the match ended in a draw.

Mitrakant struck again as he picked up two wickets (2/27) for Swastic Union.
Based on the first innings lead, Swastic Union were given three points.
