A 45-year-old realtor was hacked to death by an armed gang near AGS Layout on Ittamadu Main road in Subramanyapura, south Bengaluru, on Wednesday night.

The police suspect rivalry and financial dispute could have led to the killing.

The police said the victim, Wilson, was a resident of Channasandra in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. He had his office in Banashankari and was returning home after visiting a friend in Ittamadu. Around 10 pm, five to six men on three bikes stopped Wilson's car. They dragged him out and attacked him with machetes and swords.

Sensing the danger, Wilson’s driver fled the scene. He returned a few minutes later and saw Wilson lying in a pool of blood. The driver and a few others rushed Wilson to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Inquiries by the police revealed that Wilson had had an altercation with some people over a financial issue when he had visited his friend's house. The police suspect this could have led to the murder.

The police suspect a gang, whose three members were identified as Sunil, Ravi and Dinesh, could have murdered Wilson. The police said Wilson was acquitted in a murder case in 2006.

A few neighbours rushed in and shifted them to hospital where Hemavathi was declared brought dead.
The Kumaraswamy Layout police managed to arrest Vijay when he was trying to escape from the city. The suspect was booked for murder and attempt to murder and has been remanded in judicial custody.
