Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said he will look into charges of bribery against Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait and take appropriate action on the issue.

“Everybody makes accusations. But they have to be verified properly. We need to find out whether they (charges against Sait) are politically motivated,” he told reporters on seeking his reaction to charges that the minister demanded bribe from the Library department staff.

On speculation in the political circles that the Congress will organise AICC session in Bengaluru, he said he has not received any communication from the party high command in this regard.

The Karnataka Pradesh Congresss Committee had recently urged the party high command to allow it to organise the session, likely to be held either in July or August this year, in Bengaluru.

This apart, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George said appointment of K C Venugopal as AICC general secretary incharge of Karnataka will boost the morale of the party workers in the state. “He is an young and enthusiastic leader. His appointment will help the party prepare for the Assembly elections next year,” he added.
