SonicWall, the cyber security vendor and a spin-off from Dell, has launched the partner programme SecureFirst in India to further penetrate the market.

In an interaction with DH, SonicWall Asia and Japan Sales and Global Strategic Partnering Vice President Scott McCrady said the partners will get access to tools and capabilities of SonicWall as there is 160 times spike in malware attacks totalling 630 million attacks globally.
“We have already launched this partner programme in the US last November. Besides giving financial benefit for our partners and end customers, the partner programme will help them to tame the growing malware and ransomeware attacks around the globe,” he said. This campaign aims at preventing attacks, increasing business and reducing fear in the cyber security landscape.

Cyber threats are shifting and SMEs are increasingly becoming targets, however, they often lack in-house expertise and rely on trusted partners to keep their infrastructure secure, he said.

McCrady said the company’s real-time breach detection and prevention solution the Global Response Intelligent Defense (GRID) Threat Network and channel partners have helped the company to secure applications and data, mobile networks and data flow via emails.
The company has registered over 10,000 partners as resellers, of which 2,000 are new addition. Besides SonicWall University to train partners on cyber security, McCrady said the company also introduced marketing programmes and incentives help the channel partners deliver their cyber security solutions and services for SMBs.

SonicWall found that during 2016, unique samples of malware fell to 60 million, down from 64 million in 2015, a 6.25% decrease. It also found that total malware attempts also fell to 7.87 billion from 8.19 billion, registering a 4% decrease.

When asked about Indian environment where security awareness is less, he pointed out that the country might require three million security expert to plug security breaches.
