Last Updated 08 May 2017, 19:40 IST

A citizen who has put Bengaluru on the global map by his vocational excellence, a corporation that responds to the call of community as it caters to the needs of business, and a youth who has risen above life’s obstacles to become a role model for others are among several individuals who will be recognised for their contribution by the Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB).

‘Exemplars 2017’ is a platform set up by the RCB in collaboration with DH to recognise and award citizens, institutions and corporations that have displayed excellence in their line of duty and made a difference to their communities.  Ten awards in seven categories have been identified by the RCB for recognition.

Award categories

The different categories of award are: Citizen Extraordinaire Award, Corporate Citizen Award, Outstanding NGO Award, Pride of Workmanship Award, Youth Icon Award, Start-up Success Award and Environment Conservation Award.

“Through the medium of these awards, we aspire to recognise unknown individuals and organisations who are the real heroes of society. They work hard for the betterment of society and often go unnoticed. They are people and organisations who have brought about positive change through their unflinching efforts to build a better world,” said Ranga Rao, president, RCB.

The Citizen Extraordinaire Award will be conferred upon an extraordinary Bengalurean who has put the city on the international map through his/her exemplary excellence in his/her profession leading to a great impact on society.

Some notable past awardees include Professor C N R Rao, Arundhati Nag, Anil Kumble and Suresh Heblikar.
