II PUC results out, Udupi tops again

Karnataka Pre-University Education (PUE) department has announced the II PUC results (Class 12) in the official website. The exams were conducted from March 9 to March 27.

Udupi District has the highest pass percentage, this year too, at 90.01%. Dakshina Kannada and Uthara Kannada districts follow with 89.92% and 71.99%. Bidar district has the lowest pass percentage at 42.05%.

 The percentage of students who passed the IInd PU examinations in 2017 has reduced to 52.38% from 57.20 % in the 2016 examinations.

Of the 6,79,061 students who appeared for the exam conducted in March, 3,55, 697 students passed.

Announcing the result, primary and secondary education minister Tanveer Sait said that the reduction in the pass percentage is because of the strict measures taken to curb malpractices. "This result reflects only the efforts of the students, parents and teachers," Sait said.

The highest marks obtained in the individual subjects are 589 in Arts, 595 in Commerce and 596 in Science.

A total of 45,983 students got distinction, 1,92,012 students got first class and 71,532 students got second class and 46,170 students got third class.
This year 132 colleges have zero pass percentage as against 91 colleges last year.
