Last Updated 11 May 2017, 20:26 IST

Various citizens’ groups have decided to form a common platform on May 13 to fight for the revival of Bengaluru’s dying lakes.

Citizens Action Forum, Citizen for Bengaluru, Forward Foundation, Praja, Bangalore Environment Trust, Namma Bengaluru Foundation and other NGOs, residents’ welfare associations and lake activists will come together at Town Hall at 10.30 am on May 13. Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy, former MLA A T Ramaswamy, V Balasubramanian, Dr Hita Unnikrishnan and Shuba Ramachandran will take part in the event.

These groups were instrumental in taking the Bellandur lake and steel flyover cases to the National Green Tribunal. They forced the state government to cancel the steel flyover project and prompted civic agencies to take steps to revive Bellandur lake.
