With an air of festivity spread around the beautiful campus, the four-day long festival saw an array of events being held for students. Be it the 30-ft long poster handmade by the students adorning the building, or the colourful decorations put up all over, Udbhav surely had the teachers and students at their creative best.

The different days of the week were dedicated to a theme each — Twin Day, Wear Your Music Day and T-Shirt Day to name a few. It was according to these themes that the students had to dress on each day. While the campus was buzzing with excitement the entire week, the main events were held on the last four days.

On the first day, events like creative dance, Kannada Jam, Air Crash and Antakshari were held; while on second day, students took part in an array of events like script writing, reporting and photography, shorts ads, one act play and cooking to name a few. Dumb charade, Indian Light Music Solo were some of the competitions on the third day and the concluding day had events like treasure hunt, Indian folk and free style group dance.
Said Dr Rajanikanth, principal of MSRIT, “Udbhav means evolution, and it’s a fest that is of, for and by the students. It is mostly coordinated by the students with a bit of mentoring from the faculty. It’s mainly held as a test to select teams for other college festivals, especially the University Youth Festival, which is held by the Bangalore University.” He added, “It helps us identify our strong and weak areas. For instance, last year, we discovered that we were weak in theatre.”

Nisha Natraj, a student of the eighth semester, was one of the student coordinators of the fest. She explained, “This cultural fest is an annual affair that provides a platform to students for showcasing their talent. Everyone gets an opportunity to perform as we have different competitions in various fields like theatre, music, dance and literature.”
K R Phaneesh, a member of the faculty, who is a part of the cultural committee exclaimed, “Udbhav is a huge family affair where only the students from the college take part. It’s as good as an inter-collegiate fest and we really have so much of talent in our college.”
