Specialising in Indian contemporary ‘anarkalis’ and ‘lehengas’, along with evening, cocktail and wedding wear, is designer Aparna’s couture label ‘Aparna S’.

The collection, showcased at her studio in Jayanagar 4th T Block, is all about opulence and glamour.
The new collection is inspired by the richness, purity and grandeur of Indian craftsmanship. The use of sophisticated fabrics and royal silhouettes is the highlight of the collection. For instance, a flamboyant skirt can be teamed with a structured jacket or even a crop top.

“My style is Indo-Western and there is a heavy influence of European patterns and cuts soaked in rich colours. The designs are wearable and quite affordable for any age group,” says Aparna.

She aims to showcase the magnificent Indian craftsmanship in subtle pastel shades and rich Indian colours. The intricate embroidery work remains the primary focus.

Working with lightweight fabrics and outfits, while keeping in mind the needs of contemporary brides, Aparna says she caters to different functions starting from ‘sangeet’ and ‘mehendi’ to the main wedding ceremony.   “Though the outfits look voluminous and heavy, they are actually quite light and wearable through the day. This makes the wearer comfortable and also look confident and stunning in the photoshoots,” adds the designer.

Each outfit in the collection speaks for itself and the fitting and detailing need a special mention.

From drape gowns and asymmetrical dresses to fishtail gowns, cross-cut jackets and capes, one is sure to be spoilt for choice. Aparna points out that most of these garments can also be worn for other occasions with a different look.
