Jaya's niece Deepa creates flutter at her residence

Tension and high drama prevailed on Sunday morning, after the late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar claimed that she was attacked and prevented her entering her aunt's Poes Garden residence in the city.
 
Deepa said she went to Jayalalithaa's house after her brother Deepak called to garland a portrait of her late aunt kept in front of the house.
 
"He (Deepak) only called me. I came here because of him. However, few goons in the house beaten me and forcibly sent me out", Deepa said.
 
Claiming that her husband immediately came to rescue her, Deepa alleged though she could able to garland Jayalalithaa's portrait, she was prevented entering into the house. "When I tried to enter the house they closed the door immediately", she said.
 
Stating that she would approach legally to get justice with regard to the properties of Jayalalithaa, Deepa said that she would go to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister with regard to the issue.
 
Deepa,  who floated "Amma Deepa Peravai " recently, also claimed that she and her brother Deepak were the late AIADMK leader's blood relations and that her Poes Garden residence in the city belonged to them.
 
As the news spread across, Deepa supporters gathered in large numbers and staged a protest demonstration demanding action against those attacked their leader.
 
The AIADMK government, led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, is planning to convert Jayalalithaa's Poes residence into a memorial. Even the rebel AIADMK group leader O Panneerselvam also demanding that the residence of Jayalalithaa has be converted into a memorial.
 
Jayalalithaa purchased Poes Garden residence 'Veda Nilayam' for Rs 1.37 lakh in 1967 and at present it is worth about Rs 44 crores.
