After the opposition DMK's vain attempt to raise the issue of 'cash for MLAs' in the Tamil Nadu Assembly for the last three days, party's working president M K Stalin on Saturday evening petitioned the Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to issue fresh orders for confidence of motion in the House to prove ruling AIADMK's strength.

In addition the DMK also urged the Governor to order a probe into the issue of two AIADMK MLAs, who allegedly said to a TV channel that huge money was offered to their party legislators for supporting Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami during their stay at Koovathur resort ahead of floor test in the House in February 2017.

"The sting operation is important evidence regarding the circumstances in which the vote of confidence was conducted in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on 18 February 2017. Despite the repeated pleas of the leader of the opposition, and other party legislators on that day, the Speaker had refused to allow us to raise this issue in the assembly on 14th, 15th, and 16th June 2017", the DMK pointed out in the petition.

Stalin, in his plea, said the sting operation was important evidence regarding the circumstances in which the vote of confidence was conducted House.

"When we insisted him to take up the issue, the Speaker without following the procedure had ordered the en-masse eviction of all the members of the DMK party and further expunged our statements. It has become the order of the day that all the members of the opposition parties are evicted without justifiable reasons and without following the procedures contemplated under the Assembly Rules", he claimed.

The DMK leader, in his petition, said "in view of the shocking revelations, which if proved to be true would kill the spirit behind seeking vote of confidence, shake the entire edifice of the democracy and demolish the faith Tamil Nadu has in the democratic institutions like the assembly, we request Governor to immediately intervene and issue fresh order for a fresh Vote of Confidence, direct an impartial investigation by CBI in to the offences of Prevention Corruption Act 1988 and sirect an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate to unearth the money trail and to investigate the offences under the  Prevention of Money Laundering Act".
