Early bird elated at hassle-free supply

Dr Srinivas Reddy is elated at getting the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to his house in HSR Layout, southeast Bengaluru.

It took about a month to set up the connection at the house as he was one of the first few. While others were skeptical, he took the lead and got the connection. It has been over two months since he got the connection and has been getting uninterrupted service. He says more and more people will be interested in PNG once they get a better understanding of it.

“It will catch on in different places and people will want to get PNG fitted in their homes. The reason is that it is not as problematic as LPG. In the case of LPG, we have to order it and wait for the service provider to deliver. Sometimes they do not come on time or they come home when nobody is there,” he said.

Dr Reddy finds PNG better because the flame in LPG gas gets reddish at times whereas in PNG there is always a blue flame, which is perfect for all types of cooking.

He said he had not yet received the bill and hence was not in a position to speak about the pricing. “The connection was put up two months ago and we have not received a bill yet. They (GAIL officials) said we will get the bill after the inauguration,” he said.
