Showers continue, but with reduced intensity

Showers continued in a few districts of the state on Tuesday.

Belagavi and Khanapur taluks continued to receive rain for the third consecutive day, while overcast conditions prevailed in other parts of the district on Tuesday.

Belagavi city and villages in the taluk received light to medium showers. Bailhongal received occasional showers, while it drizzled in Chikkodi taluk.

Moderate rain was reported from Kodagu district on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours (ending 8 am on Tuesday), the district received an average of 51.83 mm rainfall. The water level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2,819.26 feet against the maximum capacity of 2,859 feet. The inflow of water was 2,123 cusecs. Heavy rain was witnessed in Gonikoppa and surrounding areas on Tuesday.

There was rain in Mangaluru by evening. In the last 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada district received an average of 52.1 mm rainfall. Intermittent light showers lashed Udupi district.

A seven-year-old boy was washed away in an overflowing drain near Royal Enfield bike showroom, STBT Cross in Kalaburagi on Monday evening.

The missing boy has been identified as Krishna Hatawal, son of Rakesh Hatawal, a resident of Mehtar Galli in Gazipur. The family hails from Haryana. The boy is yet to be traced.

Light rain accompanied by gusty wind lashed Kalaburagi city on Tuesday afternoon.

In the past 24 hours, the district received an average rainfall of 7.08 mm. On Monday evening, Kalaburagi taluk received rainfall for three hours.

Moderate rain lashed some parts of the district, including Shivamogga city, on Tuesday.
Hosanagar town received heavy rain for about 20 minutes towards the evening.

Water level in Linganamakki dam rose to 1,750.60 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet as the catchment area received rainfall of 75.4 mm. Rain lashed Bhatkal, Haliyal, Honnavar, Karwar, Kumta, Mundgod, Siddapura, Sirsi, Joida and Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district. The district received a record rainfall of 222.8 mm in the last 24 hours.

Search operation continued on Tuesday for Rafiq Ningadalli, 31, a resident of Haveri who was washed away in the overflowing River Shalmali at Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district.
