Lokayukta special court rejects advance bail for Baderiyas

Last Updated 29 June 2017, 20:22 IST

A Lokayukta special court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail applications filed by IAS officer Gangaram Baderiya and his son Gagan Baderiya in connection with three cases of illegal mining. These cases of illegal mining are being probed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

IAS officer Baderiya and his son Gagan Baderiya had filed the applications seeking an anticipatory bail in three cases being probed by the SIT.

The cases in which the Baderiayas had sought an advance bail are, illegalities in renewing of licenses to Hanuman Mines, Sri Sai Venkateshwara Minerals (SSVM), and permission granted to lift iron ore from an old dump in Chitradurga when Dharam Singh was the chief minister.

Sources said that Gagan was not named as an accused in any of the cases registered by the SIT. The special court judge rejected the anticipatory bail applications in all the three cases. In August 2015, the SIT had arrested former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy in connection with the case of granting mining lease to SSVM.
