Acting on the complaint a KSHRC team visited Shankarpuram police station and asked the police to follow the due procedure of law.

According to the police, 'Pulsar' Manja of Azad Nagar near Chamarajpet, Sharath of Gavipuram, and Bharat, Vinay, and Sharath, all from Hanumanthnagar, were reportedly involved in several cases of vehicle, cellphone and house thefts.
According to Inspector Vali Basha, Manja, a one-time brilliant student, was reportedly wanted by the CCB, Kodigehalli and Siddapura police. A fortnight ago, he had allegedly assaulted the driver of a Sports Utility Vehicle in K R Puram. After spending two months in jail, he came out recently and was allegedly planning to kill Siddi Pota, a goon from Thyagarajnagar, he added.

Eight cellphones, an SUV, lethal weapons and a motorcycle were recovered from the gang. The police were planning to produce the suspects before the Court and obtain their custody. Manja’s family, however, alleged that the police arrested them four days ago and were torturing them. The Commission asked the police to obtain orders from the Court before interrogating them. The team then took statements from the police and the suspects.

Subsequently, they were taken into judicial custody and the police will interrogate them after obtaining their custody on Monday.
