The High Court of Karnataka on Friday disposed of a petition filed by Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt who had approached the court challenging the cancellation of a sanctioned plan issued to them to construct a multistoried community hall at Girinagar. Justice Vineet Kothari disposed of the matter after the BBMP engineers withdrew the cancellation.

Bangalore Development Authority’s (BDA) the then assistant executive engineer K N Rajagopal also filed an affidavit stating that the sanctioned plan was cancelled on the oral instructions from the previous BDA commissioner (T Shyam Bhat), directing him to write a letter to BBMP to withdraw the sanctioned plan allotted to the Mutt.

The petitioner has contended that BBMP had sanctioned the plan on property bearing No 2A, JP Road, Vishwa Bharati House Building Co-operative Society, Banashankari 3rd Stage. Later, a PIL was filed disputing that the property is a civic amenity site, which the Mutt has encroached upon. BBMP on January 6, 2016 cancelled the sanctioned plan.
