The state BJP is set to emulate one more success mantra from Uttar Pradesh in poll bound Karnataka. The state unit has sought the very motorcycles extensively used for campaigning during the Assembly polls in the Uttar Pradesh for the party activities in Karnataka.

The party considers the bikes painted white background with stripes in saffron and a sticker of the lotus symbol will bring luck as they played an integral part in the successful election campaign in the northern state.

The first batch of 26 bikes, wrapped in protection covers, arrived from Uttar Pradesh at the state BJP headquarters in Bengaluru earlier this week. The second batch of  25 bikes will be arriving soon.

The BJP plans to use them in the ongoing ‘Vistaarak’ or out-reach programme in the state and later during campaigning for the Assembly polls. According to party sources, the bikes will be given to volunteers who have committed themselves to devote one-year full time for party work. They will ride to far flung places to interact with voters, create awarenesss on the programmes of the NDA government, expose the ‘misdeeds’ of the state government, among others, the sources said.

The party has sought 224 bikes, one for each Assembly constituency in the state. The Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP had spent around Rs six crore to purchase 1,650 bikes for its Assembly election campaign. Around 130 bikes were despatched to Telangana recently.
