After ‘Srinivasa Kalyana’ that portrayed her talent at its best, actor Kavitha is excited about her latest release ‘First Love’. In a candid chat with Tini Sara Anien, she talks about her latest project.

 How did ‘First Love’ happen?

A friend of mine from the industry suggested that there was a good role which would fit me well. I found the script good and I expressed my interest in the project. ‘First Love’ is not just about a romantic relationship; the concept is about anyone’s first love which can either be for a parent or a friend. The movie is a simple love story which revolves around a family.

How different is this movie compared to your earlier one?

The situations in this movie are different compared to ‘Srinivasa Kalyana’. I play Anjali, a simple yet bubbly girl. She is a medical student who has plenty of emotions to portray.

 Are you close to Anjali?

I am close to the character as I am a bubbly and social person too but unlike her, I do everything that I want to do.

Challenges you faced while doing the project.

Emoting just with the eyes is difficult. When there are no words involved in a scene where deep emotions have to be expressed, it can be quite a challenge.

There are a lot of romantic movies releasing now. How will this one stand out?

The climax of the story is shot in such a way that it will capture people’s attention. The story is a real life one that gives the movie a unique touch.

Do you modify a role according to your wishes or do you like following instructions?

While I am a director’s actor, I also play around with the character and add facets to my role after discussing with the director. I am adaptive and I accept feedback in the right way.

Is acting on the small screen different from acting in movies?

In TV serials, your role would have been explained to you and you develop it accordingly, as you have an idea of how the character behaves. However, in a movie, different characteristics have to be showcased in a shorter format, which requires you to keep consulting the director.

A genre you want to try.

I don’t like horror movies. I would like to work in a comedy film though. I also like
suspense/thriller projects as they push actors beyond their limits.

Some things you remind yourself when you’re in front of the camera.

When I am in front of the camera, I am extra alert about any instructions that the director gives. Also, I zone myself out of everything else and concentrate only on the scene at that time.
