Actor Shanvi Srivastava has been on quite a roll after working in ‘Gandu Endare Gandu’ opposite actor Ganesh. Essaying a variety of characters has saved her from monotony, she says. Her latest release is ‘Saheba’ in which she is paired opposite Manoranjan, veteran actor V Ravichandran’s son.

The actor says that the experience was memorable because she was able to handle different emotions with ease. In an interview with Nina C George, Shanvi talks about the making of the film and her future projects.

What interested you about ‘Saheba’?

It is definitely the script that made me accept the project. There are multiple facets to my character and every variation comes with its own peculiarities. It wasn’t easy to essay different emotions in one role but I consider the experience received worth my time and effort.

Tell us about your role?

I can’t give out a lot about my character but all I can say is that it is essential to take the story forward. I have lengthy dialogues where expressions play an important role. This is a very well thought out film because every character has been carefully crafted.

How was your experience of acting opposite Manoranjan?

Manoranjan is the son of a superstar so I thought he would have an air about him but I was wrong. He is a humble and down-to-earth person. He has a very different style of acting and knows how to present his character well. We spent a lot of time together and now we are good friends.

Did you have to do any homework for your role?

So far I haven’t had to work on any project that has required extensive homework. I am a spontaneous actor and this approach has worked well for me. The director wanted me to portray the character as naturally as possible in ‘Saheba’ and that’s exactly what I have attempted to do.

What is your next project?

I am working with Darshan in ‘Tarak’. It is a performance-oriented role and I have had to work very hard to effectively portray my character.

You have had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the industry.

What have you learnt in the process?

Working with some of the biggest names has been a humbling experience for me. It has taught me to be more responsible.

What do you owe your success to?

My perseverance and hard work.
