'DISHA' shows the way to face challenges in HR

The 9th edition of the three-day annual HR conclave ‘DISHA’ kicked off on Tuesday at T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal.

The theme ‘Metamorphosis: Change is the Only Constant’ reflects the need for HR as a domain to upgrade itself in an environment where an ever-intensifying war of talent, the use of analytics for decision-making and leveraging artificial intelligence for transactional activities exists. The chief guest for the opening ceremony was Ramesh Shankar, Executive VP and Head HR, Siemens.

Conceptualised in 2009, DISHA provides a platform for students to interact with and initiate conversations with HR experts, discover new perspectives, learn about the current challenges and developments in the field and understand the expectations of industry as a whole.

Delivering the keynote address, Reliance Industries Ltd organisational development, vice president Manoj Prasad said that, “Digitisation has transformed the entire business model across the world.

The role of HR has been witnessing a constant shift from administration to HR processes and strategies which is intimidating the entity of HR community. The imperative for HR community is to augment their skills and competencies to meet the evolving requirements of the industry.”

Interaction

This three-day event is packed with events for students, giving them the opportunity to interact with industry stalwarts and test their skills. Onimia is the series of panel discussions which comprises of industry guests and faculty members who will put forward their views on a topic of contemporary relevance. Each day will have sub themes for giving the discussions a structure.

Sophos is the series of interactive guest lectures and seminars, delivered by eminent industry guests on various topics related to the theme. The event aims to give the faculty and students the right opportunity to know the perspectives of industry in the current scenario. The events where students battle it out are: Vrondi - The Mock Press Event, We the People - Debate and Embauche - The Hiring Simulation.
