Aftab Shivdasani is on a sabbatical. And guess what he does to chill out? Just watch a game of Twenty20 and plump for namma Bengaluru hudugaru: Royal Challengers Bangalore Boys.

And such is Aftab’s love for the game and the RCB that he decided to gatecrash into the RCB vs DC tie – uninvited. “I didn’t get invited to watch the match. I was in Bangalore on a private visit and wanted to come and watch a match. I predict that the RCB would be one of the teams in the finals. I don’t think I will be wrong,” a visibly excited Aftab told Metrolife.

After five releases last year and producing a film, Aftab sure deserved the sabbatical. But the Bangalore visit was not a planned one. “I was not meant to be here at all, it just happened. I am a hardcore Mumbai Indian fan but RCB is another one of my favourite teams,” he says.

After a holiday in Thailand, Aftab is all set to hit the sets and has a couple of offers lined up. The last year has been rather intense for Aftab vis-a-vis his career. He was seen essaying different roles. An action hero in Acid Factory, a romantic in Kambakth Ishq, as Mickey in Aao Wish Karein and as comedian in Money Hai Toh Honey Hai…. “I love comedy. People have accepted me as a comedian and that’s one genre I’d like to explore a lot more. Action thrills me and I am up for the challenge when it comes to romance as well,” says Aftab.

He is not particular about his co-star but says he admires Kareena Kapoor for her versatility as an actress. “I think she has tremendous amount of talent that still needs to be explored,” he says and adds, “but I must say that I am a big fan of Madhuri Dixit. I love her smile and I think she has really gorgeous eyes,” he gushes. While being successful is important, how does Aftab handle failure? “Failure is important to keep one grounded and it’s a reflection of reality and a test of your success,” he philosophises.

It’s irresistible not to stop by in Bangalore whenever possible, says Aftab. “I love the City and people are very receptive to my films. I also have a huge fan base here,” Aftab quickly wraps up and rushes off to catch the match.
