Rs 1.30-cr development grant for Idludu: MLA Muniyappa

Projects to be implemented for overall development

He was speaking after inaugurating the various projects at Idludu village, which comes under Devaramalluru Gram Panchayat limits of Shidlaghatta taluk on Sunday.
Grants were being liberally sanctioned to the Gram Panchayats for the development of various villages. An amount of upto Rs 70 lakh is being sanctioned to each Gram Panchayat for the implementation of permanent projects in the villages. These projects will also generate employment opportunities for the rural people, he said and added that the village members should ensure that the funds are utilised efficiently and the projects are implemented properly.

The MLA said the Central government, in its new budget had earmarked an amount of Rs 3,250 crore for the benefit of rural people. A sum of Rs 25 lakh is being spent for the quality construction of one km stretch.

With the waiving off of the farmers’ loans, several sick banks are being revived. They are now in a position to give loans again. The banks were offering loans at a lower rate of interest through Nabard to the farmers. If all these facilities were utilised, the rural people will soon become self-sufficient and independent, he added.

Water crisis
Muniyappa said there was no water in this region. And what ever water was available, was not fit for consumption. In this backdrop, the struggle to get the Paramashivaiah report was going on.

The second phase of the desiltation of the lakes and ponds had begun and the revival of the lakes and ponds were being undertaken.If all the people co-operated, supported and worked along with the officials, then the villages will soon be on the paths of progress, the MLA added.

President of the Taluk Panchayat Saraswathamma Thammanna, Town Municipal Council President Jayamma Munikrishnappa, Kolar-Chikkaballapur Milk Federation Director K Gudiyappa, PLD Bank Chairman Appi Reddy, Town Municipal Council former president Jagannath, President of the Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee N Muniyappa, PLD Bank Vice-President Ashwathnarayan, Director A Ramachandra, M Gopal, Idludu Venkatappa, Sonnenahalli Narayanswamy, Anuru Narayanappa, H M Muniyappa, engineer Keshavmurthy and several others were present on the occasion.
