<p>Journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was hot dead on September 5, has been posthumously honoured with the annual Anna Politkovskaya award.<br /><br />The award is given every year by Reach All Women in War (the RAW in WAR) in memory of Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist who was murdered in Moscow while reporting on Chechnya war in 2006.<br /><br />Gauri’s sister Kavita Lankesh said it was for the first time an Indian has been honoured with the prestigious Anna Politkovskaya award.<br /><br />Gauri’s mother Indira Lankesh broke down at the press conference remembering her daughter. Indira said she was happy to know that Gauri has so many well wishers.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Gauri’s brother Indrajit Lankesh said it was not proper to come to a conclusion about the culprits just on the basis of the weapon used in the murder. “We have come to know that there is a similarity in the weapon used in the killings of Govind Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar, Prof M M Kalburgi and Gauri. However, it doesn’t establishes that a same person or an organisation has killed all the four. The investigation is still under progress and we are hopeful that the SIT will make some progress,’’ he said.<br /><br />Indira, Kavita and Indrajit expressed full confidence in the ongoing investigation by the SIT. <br /><br /></p>
