Last Updated 07 October 2017, 19:27 IST

A software engineer is suspected to have committed suicide over financial problems in Malleswaram, North Bengaluru, on Friday night.

Manjunath (29), of 11th Cross Sampige Road, was found hanging when his wife, Saritha, and two-year-old child returned home from a temple around 9 pm. They had left home around 6.30 pm.

Although police didn’t find a suicide note, Saritha told them that her husband was under “tremendous” financial problems. Manjunath worked for IBM until two years ago. He left the job to start his own company by teaming up with his friends. He also invested a lot of money in the startup. But the venture didn’t go off well and closed down. Manjunath became depressed. After some time, he started working for another software technology company, Saritha told the police.

Police suspect financial problems drove him to suicide. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Malleswaram police station.
