Trainee cop ends life after friend

A trainee woman constable of the Telangana Police committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room at the state police academy on Saturday.

According to the police, 23-year-old Naveena took the extreme step as she was devastated by the suicide of her close friend, Kotha Madhavi, also a constable.

Naveena, who was selected last year, was undergoing training at the state police academy located on the outskirts of the city.

On Saturday, Naveena learnt that Madhavi (25) had committed suicide by hanging herself in her room at Vemulapally in Nalgonda district.

The district police said that love failure could be the reason behind her death.

Madhavi was a resident of Rajapet village, Thipparthy mandal, of the district.

Naveena attended to her daily duties and returned to her room.Later, her neighbours found her body hanging from the ceiling and called the police.

Narsingi police inspector G V Ramana Goud said the other trainee constables alerted the academy police.

A case of death under suspicious circumstances (section 174) has been registered.
