Days before the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has suffered a major blow with the Supreme Court dismissing his plea to quash a disproportionate assets case lodged by the CBI against him and his wife.
In an order passed on October 23, Justice Deepak Gupta dismissed his plea on technical grounds, after his counsel failed to “cure” defects in the petitions as pointed out by the Supreme Court registry.
Assembly election in the state will be held on November 9 and Singh has been projected as the chief ministerial candidate by the Congress.
