The Centre on Friday once again played down reports of a fresh build-up by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) near the India-China-Bhutan tri-junction boundary point.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Raveesh Kumar, told journalists that the recent media reports had referred to build-up by Chinese PLA "well within China".

"It is important to have an accurate understanding of the situation and not to paint an alarmist picture," Kumar said in response to a query on the reports on a fresh move by the PLA near Doklam Plateau in western Bhutan – the scene of the recent 72-day-long military face-off between India and China.

"I would like to reiterate that there are no new developments at the face-off site and its vicinity since the August 28 disengagement. The status quo prevails in this area. Any suggestion to the contrary is incorrect and mischievous," said Kumar.

On October 3, the MEA had dismissed reports about a fresh build-up by the PLA at Doklam Plateau.
