The body was found packed in a gunny bag and abandoned in a drainage near Sarayepalya, Hennur and the deceased has been identified as Afreen Nafeesa.

At around 1.10 pm, the girl's father Shabeer Ahmed, a resident of Govindpura, KG Halli had filed a missing complaint at the jurisdictional police.

Sources said, the girl was last seen with her aunt. There was a feud in the family and it is suspected that in an attempt to settle scores, they might have taken the child and when things took a different turn, the culprits might have abandoned the girl. There are no injury marks on the body and post mortem report is awaited. Meanwhile, a section of the people refused to remove the body and pressed for enquiry. Senior officers and a few social workers pacified the angry crowd and shifted the body to Ambedkar hospital.

Charred to death

A two-year-old girl was killed when she rushed to her mother, who had doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze in Mangammanapalya, HSR Layout, on Wednesday night. The mother too died within minutes. The deceased are Sudha (28) and Puja.

Sudha’s two other daughters - Nirmala and Sandhya - also sustained minor injuries. Police say Sudha had married Ramesh, a brick labourer and a native of Kumbhakonam, 10 years ago. The couple would frequently quarrel. They fought  on Wednesday night. Ramesh went out of the house, and an upset Sudha set herself ablaze. Her daughters rushed to rescue her, but Puja suffered fatal burns.

Two arrested

The SJ Park police have arrested two persons, in separate cases. Bike and spare parts worth Rs 60,000 have been recovered by arresting Kantharaju, a resident of Video Factory in a bike theft case. The police intercepted him while he was riding a bike near the SJ Park bus stop. He is said to have spilled the beans during interrogation.

Acting on a tip off, police arrested Seebu, a resident of Malapatti village in Tiruchi taluk (Tamil Nadu) on Wednesday night near a park, when he was planning to commit a theft.
