"We had demanded certain changes in the amendments to KPME Bill. Which the joint select committee has not taken into consideration. The bandh is to that move," said Dr R Ravindra, secretary of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA).

Dr Ashwath Narayan, MLA, Malleshwaram who is one of the members of the joint select committee said that the committee had advised the government to include government hospitals along with private ones to make the rules transparent and relax certain other amendments.

"But we are not sure if the government will take our recommendations into consideration or not," he said.
