Unaccounted cash around Rs 40 lakh, (Rs 40,08,890), was seized from a man in the city during a raid conducted by the Kalaburagi police recently.
IGP (Northeast Range) Alok Kumar told media persons here on Wednesday that acting on a tip-off, the police team raided the house of Karan Gaekwad, a resident of Milan Chowk Layout in Brahmpur police station jurisdiction and seized the cash on November 1.
Gaekwad failed to given any supporting documents with regard to the cash and about its source, the IGP added.
A case has been booked against Gaekwad, who has been arrested, under Section 41 (1)(D) of CrPC and under Karnataka Prohibition Of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2004, he said.
