A man was shot at and injured, while attempting to scale a wall at the Indian Air Force base in Hindon at Ghaziabad, on the outskirts of the national capital.
The man, identified as Sujeet Kumar from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, said he did not have anything to eat and wanted to sit on the wall.
He said he had tried to enter the base around midnight on Tuesday. As Kumar ignored warnings by security personnel to stop, he was shot in the left leg by the guards to immobilise him, said Rakesh Kumar Singh, Station House Officer of the Sahibabad police station.
The base houses the C-130J and C-17 squadrons, the two latest transport aircraft of the IAF.
While perimeter security of all IAF bases was enhanced in the wake of last year's Pathankot terror attack, the outer walls of the Hindon base had multiple breaches, which have been rectified.
