Congress MLAs are learnt to have indulged in a war of words with Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya over the issue of releasing grants under various budgetary schemes on Wednesday.
The party MLAs, P M Narendraswamy, M T B Nagaraj and P T Parameshwar Naik and others, charged that touts were controlling the department and that they have to go through them to get funds. They directly accused the Minister of using what they called commission agents to make money in the department. This happened at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Suvarna Soudha.
Sources said that the MLAs and the minister even threatened each other with dire consequences. The chief minister intervened and assured the MLAs that he will resolve all issues.
