The pending 1.7-km stretch of the railway double track between Bengaluru and Mysuru line at Srirangapatna was commissioned for traffic on Tuesday.
With this, the entire Bengaluru-Mysuru track doubling project (138.3-km) is now fully commissioned. Electrification work between Yeliyur and Mysuru (39 Km) is nearing completion.
Work on the 1.7-km stretch at Srirangapatna was delayed as Tipu Sultan's armoury came in the way of the alignment of the second track. The armoury was shifted to a new location in one piece, a first in India, in March 2017.
