<p class="title">A high-level offshore security exercise, code-named 'Prasthan', was conducted at the ONGC oil platform 'Heera', located about 40 km west of the Mumbai Harbour, in the Heeraa-Panna oil field.</p>.<p class="bodytext">This exercise is conducted every six months, under the aegis of the Western Naval Command to validate response to various contingencies in the Offshore Development Area (ODA) off Mumbai.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The contingency response was managed by the Crisis Management Group (CMG) from the Joint Operations Centre, Mumbai.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The CMG comprises stakeholders from various central/ state govt agencies including the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, ONGC, Mumbai Police, Mumbai Port Trust and Global Vectra.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The exercise - conducted on 21-22 November - provided a realistic scenario to assess readiness of all stakeholders to fight contingencies at the Western Offshore area in a synergistic and coordinated manner.</p>
