Speaking at a district development programmes review meeting on Saturday, he said 57 applications in Udupi CMC limits, 26 in Karkala TMC limits and 16 applications in Saligrama Town Panchayat limits have been accepted. The process of identifying the other beneficiaries should be fastened.

The photographs of 2,19,919 families have been clicked for the computerisation of ration cards. The permanent ration cards have been distributed to 2,10,039, said officials. Zilla Panchayat Executive Engineer Sridhar Murthy appealed the State government to release Rs 50 lakh to solve drinking water woes immediately. He said during 2009-10, Rs 2.68 crore was released by the State government and Rs 106 crore by the Central government to ease drinking water woes in the district.

Officials urged the District-in-Charge Secretary to release additional Rs 7.65 crore for the district complex coming up at Manipal, Rs 95 lakh for the indoor stadium of the department of Youth Service and Rs 14.7 lakh for the yathri Nivasa at Karkala.  In-charge Secretary assured to release the fund after holding talks with the officials concerned. DHO Dr Ramachandra Bayari said 33 posts of doctors are lying vacant in primary health centres in rural areas in Udupi. The vacant posts must be filled immediately. Jhalaki directed Social Welfare Officer to install solar lamps to all the hostels run by the Social Welfare department and to disburse student scholarship at the earliest.

Deputy Commissioner Hemalath directed the officials to provide caste certificates at Kota Nemmadi kendra within 10 days. ZP CEO Pranesh Rao, Additional DC Prabhakar, Kundapur AC K N Ramesh and others were present.
