State-level convention of tribals on Dec 24

"Karnataka Adivasi Rakshana Parishat will organise a state-level convention of tribals - 'Moola Adivasi Kalamela Mattu Samavesha' at Kalasa, Mudigere on December 24," said Parishat State Organising Secretary Shrinivasa Gowda.

Addressing reporters here on Thursday, he said that a cultural jatha will be held at 10.30 am on the day. MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLC Motamma and M K Pranesh will flag-off the jatha. Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya will inaugurate the Kalamela and conference on Aramanemakki grounds at 2 pm.

Kannada University, Hampi, tribal studies department Professor K M Maitri will deliver the keynote address. Adivasi Vikasa Parishat National President Somabai Damor, MLA B B Ningaiah, Zilla Panchayat President Chaitrashree, Superintendent of Police K Annamalai and Karnataka Adivasi Rakshana Parishat Honourary President H D Basavaraj will be present among others.

The motto of the conference is to unite the Adivasi people. A list of demands by the Adivasi people will be submitted to the MP and the concerned ministers, he added.

State Adivasi Rakshana Parishat Joint Secretary M K Mahesh and District unit President P Rajesh were present in the press meet.
