'Govt trying to break unity among labour class'

Last Updated 17 December 2017, 14:25 IST

CPM State Secretary G V Sriram Reddy alleged that the government's move to implement 'Labour Welfare Act' to replace the existing labour acts is an attempt to break the unity among the labour class.

He was speaking at the CPM DK district convention here on Sunday. "The proposed Labour Welfare Act by the NDA government aims to suppress the rights of the labour class. There is a need to oppose the act unitedly", said Reddy.

"There are thousands of castes and hundreds of languages in India. Four religions of the world took its birth in the country. However, in the name of Hindutva, Sangha Parivar is planning to bring in a monoculture in the country. A conspiracy is being made to destroy the secular values," he added.

When BJP's Parivarthana Yathre failed, the BJP tried to disrupt communal harmony in the state. The recent untoward incident is part of such an attempt.

Stating that being the prime opposition party in the country Congress has failed to tackle the communal forces in the country. Reddy also said that even the Congress-led state government in Karnataka has failed to tackle communal forces. To protect democracy and the pluralistic nature of the society, people should support the left and secular parties.

Sriram Reddy said that after Narendra Modi came to power, the farmers' suicide cases have increased in the country. During the BJP's tenure, a total of 1.60 lakh farmers have committed suicide in the country.

CPM state leader K R Sriyan said, "Narendra Modi has failed to fulfil the promises that he made during the election. The promise of action against black money and generation of employment have not been fulfiled so far."

Resolution against communalism

The convention discussed the untoward incidents of spreading hatred among the communities in Dakshina Kannada district. The convention passed a resolution against communalism and to strengthen secular forces to foster harmony in the society.
