Woman attempts suicide at police chief's office

A woman in her late  20s attempted suicide by drinking poison at the police commissioner's  office on Infantry Road around  6 pm on Tuesday.

Puja (name changed) reportedly consumed pesticide from a bottle that  she had brought  along.  A few policemen snatched the bottle and took her to Sparsh Hospital located right opposite the commissioner's office.  Doctors washed her stomach, and her condition is stable now. She was later  shifted to another hospital.

A preliminary inquiry  showed that the woman had an affair with a man who cheated her. She wanted to petition the police commissioner  but didn't know whom to meet.

Police Commissioner  T Suneel Kumar  told DH:  "As soon as she recovers, our  officers  will talk to her and see whether her concerns can be resolved legally."
