BJP leader V Somanna has said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is afraid of JD(S) and will thus not contest from Chamundeshwari Assembly segment in the upcoming elections in 2018.

Addressing reporters here on Thursday, Somanna said that the people are   aware about how Congress party candidates won the by-elections in Nanjangud and Gundlupet. "Siddaramaiah's political game will not work in the upcoming general election. The JD(S) will tackle Siddaramaiah if he contests from Chamundeshwari. Thus the CM will not contest from the segment," he said.

Due to a fear of MLA G T Devegowda, Siddaramaiah has resorted to trouble him by ordering a probe against him in connection with the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) land acquisition scam.

In reply to a query about the Lingayat and Veerashaiva dharma issue, Somanna said that both the communities are one and the same. Blaming ministers M B Patil and Vinay Kulkarni, Somanna said that Veerashiva-Lingayats will never leave BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa will be the next CM and he will address the problems pertaining to irrigation in the district. BJP district president Yoga Ramesh, vice president Preetham J Gowda, and former MLA B V Karigowda were present.
