A 46-year-old truck driver died instantly after being struck by a speeding car near the Sadahalli gate on Ballari Road, North Bengaluru, on Friday night, police said.
Subramani, of Sonnappanahalli, had parked his truck on the roadside and was crossing the road to go to a restaurant for dinner when the car jumped the signal, knocked him down and crashed into the road divider around 9.45 pm. The car driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle. He and another person in the automobile were injured. The driver abandoned the car and fled the scene soon after the accident.
A case has been registered at the Chikkajala traffic police station.
