BJP charges protocol violation

Last Updated 24 December 2017, 16:03 IST

Within two weeks after Congress leaders charged violation of protocol for not mentioning Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's name in the invitation card of upgraded Hubballi Airport inauguration, it was the turn of BJP leaders to raise a similar voice with regard to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's programme held here on Sunday.

"The chief minister is laying foundation stone for construction of houses under 'house for all' scheme of Pradhan Mantri Avas Yojana (PMAY), which is a Centrally-sponsored scheme, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photograph is not displayed, while the work is also not yet approved. I will bring this issue to the notice of the Parliament Speaker, while BJP MLAs in the city should also think about moving a privilege motion," MP Pralhad Joshi said.

Many road development and other works for which Mr Siddaramaiah was laying foundation stones were already started, while work orders are not yet issued for some works. Sewage treatment plant is functional since two years, and it is being inaugurated now, he said.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar stated that he would boycott the function, charging that he was invited at the last moment purposely.

Protests

The BJP workers also staged protest in front of Mini Vidhan Soudha, alleging that the State Government is showing step-motherly attitude towards the twin cities, by delaying the release of pending pension grants and funds to improve bulk water supply.

Later, around 40 BJP workers were detained by the police when they staged a protest at Tabib Land Circle near the CM's function venue. They charged that Congress convention was being conducted using public money. They were released later.
