Palike corporators to be web-enabled

A dedicated portal with wardwise details to be launched soon

A dedicated portal with details of wardwise development work will be launched in the next few months.

The ambitious website, partly developed by the BBMP technical team would consist details including the cost and deadline of the projects taken up in all the 198 wards. The Palike will update the information for the corporator.

“We will also try to include details such as whether the Palike Commissioner has inspected the project and whether he has issued any directions to the ward officials with regard to civic problems,” a BBMP official said. 

The idea of launching the portal was conceived with the objective of ensuring “connectivity” with citizens. All the corporators would be given an email address, individual user ID and password as soon as they take oath.

Citizen grievances

The website will also have grievances aired by citizens of the particular ward, filtered and sent to respective ward representatives. The Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation has provided the platform for the portal and the Palike will be customising the website for each corporator, the official stated. The portal is likely to be bilingual - English and Kannada for the convenience of the corporators.

The information on zonal projects, common to all the wards in a particular BBMP zone, will also be uploaded on the portal. “Currently, we are not involving any other civic agency and the portal will strictly be related to BBMP projects alone,” said the official.
