Two killed as vehicle rams into arch

Driver Naveen (22) of Doddaballapur taluk and Naveen Kumar (18) of Doddaballapur town were killed whereas Praveen and Madhu, both 20 and residents of Doddaballapur taluk, suffered serious injuries when the mishap occurred around 4 am at Kantanakunte village.

According to police, all the four were on their way to Bangalore from Gauribidanur after uploading poultry in the vehicle.

The mishap occurred reportedly after the drowsy driver lost control over the vehicle. The post-mortem was conducted at the Government Hospital in the town.

Doddaballapur rural police have booked a case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence under Sections 279 and 304 (A) of the IPC. 

Girl immolates

A student of Class nine, reportedly upset over her failure in the exams, committed suicide by dousing kerosene and setting herself ablaze in Rajarajeshwari Nagar here on Monday, police said.

Madhushri’s (15) body was handed over to the relatives after conducting a post-mortem at the Victoria Hospital. A case of unnatural death has been booked.

Engineer killed

A 28-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot when a Gulmohar tree was uprooted and fell on him while he was returning home from work on a motorcycle in ISRO Layout near Kumaraswamy Layout here on Monday.

Shankar, a resident of Vasanthpur, had left his office and was nearing the bus shelter when the freak mishap occurred around 9:45 pm, the police said.  The deceased was the sole bread winner for his family.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh to his family. Minister for Transport R Ashok will hand over the cheque on Thursday.

 Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case of unnatural death.
