'Keep buses, bus stands clean'

During the monthly 'Namma Bus Namma Nildana' cleanliness awareness programme of the North-Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), cleaning drive and awareness programme were held at the Old Bus Stand in Hubballi and New Bus Stand in Dharwad on Tuesday.

In Hubballi, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) President Chaitra Shirur explained the importance of keeping buses and bus stands clean, keeping the health of passengers in view.

NWKRTC Chairman Sadanand Danganavar noted that the corporation is providing bus service to nearly 4,500 villages and is giving concessional bus passes to 5.5 lakh students, without expecting profit. He also sought the co-operation of passengers to maintain cleanliness in buses and bus stands.

They also took part in the cleaning drive, and distributed pamphlets to the passengers, to create awareness about cleanliness.

In Dharwad, Corporator Deepak Chinchore and Kannada & Culture Department officer S K Rangannavar were the guests at 'Namma Bus Namma Nildana' programme.
