The nationwide protest by Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Tuesday to oppose a Bill seeking replacement of the Medical Council of India (MCI) with a new body, received mixed reactions here.
Dr Satish Bhat of IMA Mangaluru said that the National Medical Commission Bill 2017 proposed to scrap the 60-year-old Medical Council of India on the ground that it is corrupt.
The OPD services in a few private hospitals functioned normally while a few closed down services.
Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital H R Rajeshwari Devi said normally, a large number of patients visit the hospital on Monday and Tuesday but hospitals recorded a relatively higher number of patients on Tuesday.
