'Teacher transfers delayed, not on hold'

Following media reports that the teacher transfer process for the 2017-18 year had been put on hold because of elections, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait clarified that the dates have only been extended.  

In a note, Sait said that the department had decided to extend the dates for applying online for transfer from January 10 to January 20. This was done on request from teachers. As a result, the document verification will be completed only a month later, by February 20.  

Sait said that the complete transfer process, including counselling, would be completed by March 20. However, in the interest of teachers and their families, they would not have to report to their new posts till June 1.
