Caste certificate

There has been a surge in the demand for caste certificate as the last date for filing nominations to Gram Panchayat polls is nearing. Poll candidates were seen waiting at the Tahsildar’s office since morning to obtain the caste certificate.

“I have been waiting since 9 in the morning. There are no officials in the taluk office. The Revenue inspector has been drafted for election duty and there is none to give information on the alternative solution,” complained Muniyappa, an aspirant for Jannaghatta Gram Panchayat posts.

He said the candidates were running from pillar to post to obtain caste certificates. With barely few days for the deadline to submit nominations, the Tahasildar should make some alternative arrangements. Several people from nearing villages returned empty handed after waiting for hours together, he said.
