Cycle jatha to create awareness on road safety, water conservation

Padubidri Rotary Club organised Cyclothon 2018 from Kaup Vidyanikethana School to Hejamady on Sunday, to create awareness on water conservation, road safety and ill effects of drug abuse.

Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis flagged off the rally and called upon the people to give prominence to conserve water. Associations should create awareness on rainwater harvesting in every household to increase the water table, she advised.

Karkala ASP Rishikesh Sonawane said if vehicle users follow road safety rules then accidents can be prevented. There is need to create awareness on conservation of environment. Cycling also helps an individual maintain good health, he reminded.

15 km

The 15-km bicycle jatha passed through Kaup-Uchila-Ermal-Padubidri-Hejamady Gram Panchayat.

Karkala ASP Rishikesh Sonawane participated in cycling from Kaup to Uchila.

The members of Udupi Cycling Club, Mantra Surfing Club, Mulooru Al Ihsan School, Kaup Vidyanikethana School, Uchila Mahalakshmi School, Kaup Mahadevi School, Uchila Saraswathi Mandira SChool, Mulooru CSI School, Hejamady Al Azhar Schoolchildren, Padubidri Rotary Club members participated.

Actors Radhika Rao, Prathvi, Aradhya Shetty, Jennifer Sneha, Ranjitha Shet, Vismaya Vinayaka and Shlagha Saligrama also participated in an open jeep.

UPCL Adani joint president Kishore Alva, Udupi District BJP vice president Suresh Shetty, Hejamady GP president Vishalakshi Puthran and others were present.
