The chairperson and members of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Standing Committee on Establishment and Administrative Reforms paid a surpise visit to the office of the sub-registrar in Marathahalli on Tuesday.

They inspected the steps taken to collect property tax. Citizens who were in the office complained to the visiting officers that the officials were delaying the issue of Khata and harrased the citizens.

In response to this, C R Lakshminarayan took officials to task and directed them to issue Khata within 15 days.

The committee also paid surprise visits to HAL and Jeevan Bima Nagar sub-registrar offices.

Observing that many officials had not signed the attendance register for over two weeks, the chairperson said that action would be taken against them. He also directed them to start biometric attendance system.
